#Do You Know!#Endangered Species

"We all have a responsibility to protect endangered species, both for their sake and for the sake of our own future generations."

Hello Everyone. So I am back with another Endangered Species.As you know that animals consists of many categories such as terrestrial, amphibians, birds etc. and aquatic animals are also a part of it. So today i will be telling you about one of the critically endangered species of a turtle.

Hawksbill Turtle{Eretmochelys Imbricata}

Meet The Endangered Hawksbill Turtle, And The People Fighting To ...

The hawksbill sea turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) is a critically endangered sea turtle belonging to the family Cheloniidae. It is the only extant species in the genus Eretmochelys. The species has a worldwide distribution, with Atlantic and Indo-Pacific subspecies.The hawksbill's appearance is similar to that of other marine turtles. In general, it has a flattened body shape, a protective carapace, and flipper-like limbs, adapted for swimming in the open ocean.Though hawkbills are widely distributed, the IUCN lists them as critically endangered with an estimated population of fewer than 25,000 nesting females across their range in the tropics.

Here is a video which will give you a glimpse of it.

Like all sea turtles, hawkbills face a multitude of threats as a result of human activities.The cause of their decline continues to be driven by the demand for their shell. However, a host of other dangers also put them at serious risk. Hawksbills help maintain the health of coral reefs. As they remove prey such as sponges from the reef's surface, they provide better access for reef fish to feed. They also have cultural significance and tourism value.

So we should protect them and take care of them which could prevent them from being extinct....

The animal's conservation status is listed as least concern on the IUCN Red List.

In India these birds are usually found in the old houses in the village. As the development has played a important role most of the people in the village has made pucca houses and because of it it's number began to decline. This bird foreshadow positive energy and livelihood
