#Do You Know!#Endangered Species

" One can measure the greatness and the mortal progression of a nation by looking at how it treats its animals."

Hello everyone. so I am back with another endangered species. so today I will be telling about the critically endangered species and rarest species of  terrestrial animal  which hardly a few people know and that is of an orangutan.

Bornean Orangutan{Pongo Pygmaeus}

The Bornean orangutan [pongo pygmaeus] is a species of orangutan native to the island of Borneo. Together with the Sumatran orangutan and Tapanuli orangutan, it belongs to the only genus of great apes native to Asia. Like the other great apes,  orangutans are highly intelligent, displaying tool use and distinct cultural patterns in the wild. Orangutans shares approximately 97% of their DNA with humans.

The Bornean orangutan is a critically endangered species, with deforestation, palm oil plantations, and hunting posting a serious threat to its continued existence. This is the second largest ape after the gorilla. The Bornean orangutan lives in the Tropical and Sub-tropical moist broadleaf forest in the Bornean lowlands. This species lives throughout the canopy of primary and secondary forest

Here is a video which will give u a glimpse of it.

Bornean orangutan is now critically endangered , with populations in sharp decline due to habitat destruction and illegal hunting, the ICUN declared last week. Bornean orangutans live only on the island of Borneo , where their populations have declined by 60% since 1950.

So we should protect them and take care of them which could prevent them from being extinct...

#Do You Know!#Endangered Species

'' Don't treat animals as animals treat them as living beings that's what they are.''

Hello everyone so today I am back with another critically endangered species which is on the edge of extinction and the world's rarest marine animal that is Vaquita. The plight of cetaceans - whales, dolphins and porpoises as a whole is exemplified by the rapid decline of vaquita in Mexico, with about 10 individuals remaining.

Vaquita{Phocoena Sinus}

The Vaquita[phocoena sinus], literally "little cow", is a species of porpoise endemic to the northern end of the gulf of California[sea of Cortez, vermilion sea]. Averaging 150cm(for females) or 140cm(for males) in length, it is the smallest of all living cetaceans today, the species is on the brink of extinction. Vaquitas are generalists, foraging on a variety of demersal fish species, crustaceans, an squids though behenic fish such as grunts and  croakers make up most of the diet.

Here is a video which will give a glimpse of it.

The steep decline in abundance is primarily due to bycatch in gillnets from the illegal totoaba fishery. Given their proximity to the coast, vaquitas are exposed to habitat alteration and pollution from runoff. This animal is listed as critically endangered on ICUN red list.

So we should protect them and take care of them to prevent them form being extinct....
